January 2017 - Diagnose fibre fault and restore connectivity for 80 users in a remote building

WNS have recently been engaged to diagnose a faulty fibre optic cable which was thought to be limiting the service to 80 network users in a remote building. WNS staff performed extensive testing using an OTDR and determined that the cable had been badly damaged in a collapsed duct. The original fibre was of OM1 internal construction and therefore not suitable for a duct or consideration for repair. WNS have subsequently replaced the fibre with a new 12 core Brand Rex OM4 Loose tube duct grade cable which has restored full network connectivity to the building.
